Tobari Quiet Support

Overview

Tobari Quiet turns Safari pages dark and leaves images as they are. When you want to tone down images or video too, add Quiet view on top. Links, forms, and menus keep working as usual.

Colors starts on Dark, which gives pages muted, dark colors. If another dark mode extension already handles colors, choose Don't change. Page colors are left to that extension, and Tobari Quiet handles images only, through Quiet view. You can also choose Match device, which follows your device's appearance, or Light, which uses light, muted colors. The “Even out text size and spacing” switch works while Quiet view is on.

Enabling the extension in Safari

  1. Open the Tobari Quiet app and tap "Open Safari extension settings." This opens the Extensions list in the Settings app, where you can turn Tobari Quiet on and choose the websites it can access.
  2. If the button doesn't open Settings, open it manually: Settings app > Apps > Safari > Extensions (on some OS versions: Settings > Safari > Extensions).
  3. In Safari, open the page menu (or the extensions icon in the address bar) and select Tobari Quiet to change the global on/off state, Colors, Quiet view, and per-site settings for the page you're viewing.

Frequently asked questions

The extension doesn't seem to work on some sites.
This can happen for a few reasons:

I want to see an image or change the page back.
With Keep Private, tap a hidden image's placeholder to show it right where it is. Tap again to hide it. To turn off Quiet view for images and video on one site, use the popup or the button at the edge of the screen. Pull the edge button toward the center or press and hold it to switch between Wind Down, Low Key, Keep Private, and any Custom setting you have created; you can also choose Colors: Dark or Don't change. Tap the selected preset again to turn it off. Tap outside the tray or swipe it toward the edge to close it. To stop both Colors and Quiet view, turn Tobari Quiet off or choose "Turn off on this site."

It's not working right after an update or reinstall.
Tabs that were already open may not pick up the change. Fully quit Safari and reopen it.

The page seems stuck, or the quiet presentation never starts.
If the extension can't finish starting within a few seconds, it automatically falls back to the page's original appearance for safety. If this persists, reopen the page, or try fully quitting and reopening Safari as described above.
